This original hybrid is a mixture of nylon, rubber, foam, and fiber designed to reduce compaction, thwart freezing, promote water retention, and offer superior cushioning for livelier travel. 

The original manufactured "fiber" footing additive is an organic and synthetic blended mixture containing some rubber and foam. It's used primarily in deep or clean sand for binding purposes, water retention, and is the simplest textile to install.
